Pack a costume alongside your swimsuits. October on Pensacola Beach hands out candy on the boardwalk, puts a movie screen in the sand and closes Halloween weekend with a four-day food festival. The Pensacola Beach events calendar opens with a triathlon on the third and keeps Pensacola Beach happenings rolling right into November.
Book directly with Premier Island Management Group and you can keep the car parked most of the month. Many of our Pensacola Beach vacation rentals sit near the Pensacola Beach Boardwalk, where most of the October action happens.
What Pensacola Beach Events Are Happening In October?
October is an exciting month with a variety of events, including music, scares, movies, and athletes. However, five events anchor the month, in this order.
Pensacola Beach Songwriters Festival: More than 150 writers and performers play the festival's two weekends, and the beach half at spots like Flounder's Chowder House, the Sandshaker Lounge and Paradise Bar & Grill. You hear the story behind the song before anyone plays it. Check the schedule before you pick a night.
Santa Rosa Island Triathlon: The sprint race starts at 7 a.m. from Casino Beach: a 600-yard swim, a 21-kilometer out-and-back ride, and a 5K through a beach neighborhood. The field caps at 850 and sells out well before race week, so register early or come cheer. Kids ages 6 to 15 get their own race the next morning.
Beach-O-Ween: Costumes, a candy haul, face painting and hot dogs take over the Pensacola Beach Boardwalk from 4 to 8 p.m. It is free, and the easiest night of the month with small kids.
Cinemas in the Sand: The Santa Rosa Island Authority puts family-friendly movies on a giant outdoor screen at the Gulfside Pavilion, free, starting at sunset. See the full lineup, then pack a blanket.
Taste of the Beach: The beach chamber moved its food festival to Halloween weekend and stretched it to four days: a Thursday sunset cruise, a Friday trolley dinner, Saturday's tasting at Casino Beach and a new Sunday brunch trolley. The chamber sells tickets online.
